MADRID 2020

Madrid has long pursued the Olympic dream, but with little success. On three occasions, the city submitted its bid to the Olympic Committee, and each attempt ended in failure. Ultimately, these efforts left deep scars: accumulated debts, abandoned spaces and unfinished projects that have transformed the city’s landscape.

The persistence in this quest can be likened to a romantic delirium, a struggle that, despite its repeated defeat, continues to resonate in the collective memory. Madrid 2020 reflects on these failures, establishing a dialogue between the tangible effects of these failed proposals and their emotional impact.

Madrid embarks on its doomed road to the Olympics, leaving urban corpses and abandoned spaces in its path. The Olympic bid became a race of such high intensity that its values transcend to an emotional plane.
